Farewell to Hungary

Our time in Hungary is coming to an end, unfortunately. The last week here has been quite lazy, we have done last minute shoppings and just hanging out. On Tuesday we visited the castle at Gyula, the one that I already visited by myself. But good things are two times better when you share them with somebody, right?

Our last job was to make videos about Békéscsaba, one about the beautiful side and one about the ugly side. 

Our month here has been great, we both wish that we have an opportunity to come back. Some of the greatest things has been thunderstorms, low price level, friendly people, theater, and storks. Viszontlátásra Magyarország, Viszlát!

Second last week :(

Our week started in a very interesting way, because we had an opportunity to see the local theater from top to toe. We saw what is going on behind the scenes of theater, and we learnd, that it can be very dangerous working as a technician in a theater.

On Tuesday, we went to local TV called Csaba TV. What it comes to working and manners, we noticed a lot of similarity between Finnish and Hungary TV. Equipments were pretty much same as in Finland, but little older.

Oh jeah, and on the Tuesday evening there was another beatiful thunderstorm.

 

We worked at the local TV on Wednesday also, and on Thursday we had a very weird evening, because we went to Gyula to the "Finnish event," where was this one guy, who spoke a little Finnish. He told there to Hungarians all kinds of things abaut Finland, for example, sports, food, manners, music, religion, internationaly famous things in Finland, ect. We also did a little interview with him.

On Friday we took pictures of the schools students. We also edited the interviview  that we made on Thursday.

Maybe Finnish and Hungarians are only language relatives, but it seems like that Finnish and Hungarians are getting along very well. :)

Busy times

For the last week we have been working, Essi has been working at the advertaising agency called A-team, and I have been working at the Jókai Színház -theater. Mostly work has been, for both of us, editing and taking pictures. So far work has been very simple and nice, and we have learnd, that you can do high-quality work even without expensive equipment. ;)

The highlight of this week was a stunning 3D projection on the wall of a beatiful castle. Before the projection we had a delicious dinner, and we  also had an opportunity to see the castle from insaid. The local people said that the castle is very small and poor, but for us it was very cool, because in Finland we have don't have castles everywhere...
We cant describe with words how amazing the 3D projection was, we can just say, that everybody should see that kind of show at least once in a lifetime.

Maybe we should tell something abaut the local food? So far everything has been good, here people like to eat lot of soup, onion, paprika, cabbage, and all the food seems to be greasy but tasty. And we haven't eat very much sallad...

Living in the heart of Békéscsaba

Last Saturday we had to move in an apartment house, right to the city center. Churce bells are ringing almost all the time, but it's very nice, when everything is so close. It has been very hot, something like 29 degrees. We havent get used to that hot weather, but it's better to celebrate Vappu, The first of May, in sunshine than in the middle of snow... But after hot, sunny day, there must be a thunderstorm, right?

 

Our biggest job on this week has been making commercial for the children's day. We made a timelapse video abaut me drawing the advertisement to the ground. It was fun, especially, when people here in Hungary are so friendly.

 

                                    

 

 

We want people to know, that it's not so important how perfrectly you can speak English, because it is possible to communicate with other people without using any words at all.

Hey all!

Time passes here really quickly! We have been very busy. Our empowering photography course is almost over. Thursday is the final day when all of our students will receive a course certificate.
We gave them some homework; take a picture of yourself and tell us what you see in the photograph and which things have contributed to what kind of person you are today. Have to say we have a really awesome course group! So thanks to our students :)

Not only does the course have kept us in a hurry, we have done our school tasks! However, on Tuesday we finally completed also our school tasks and sent them to our lovely and non-sarcastic teacher Mikko.

Even we have sweated our asses off we still have had some time to enjoy sunbathing and good fresh food.

 Monday we visited Puerto marina and sealife. What do you think of these two otters? lmao

Sari & Reeta, Fuengirola, Spain: Filming for the video continues

Hello!

All of the activities of Sofia-opisto has now been filmed, and soon we will start recording the soundtrack.

Sofia-opisto had two trips, and Reeta participated as a photographer; hiking in Benalmadena and exploring Guadix, a city that is known for the cave-dwellings.

We also visited an allotment garden in Fuengirola. It´s taken care of by a group of finnish people with help of Antonio, a wise local gentleman that owns the garden. There were for example lemons, potatoes, carrots, lettuce and all kinds of herbs.

Gyula and Békéscsaba

On 24th of April we arrived to Budapest, Hungary. From Budapest we went to Gyula, neart to Romanian border. The first things that we noticed were crazy traffic, huge fields and beatiful houses. Even if hardly anyone speaks English, we have still managed communication just fine. Let’ just say, that Google translater and dictionary has been very usefull.

 

On Sunday I visited Békéscsaba and Essi stayed in Gyula to take some pictures. I had an opportunity to see some shows at the theater, which were part of festival that they have once a year.
After couple lazy days in Gyula we moved to Békéscsaba, which is a bit bigger city than Gyula. We settled down in this beatiful, thatched roof house. For a first couple days, when almost nothing didn’t happen, we just walked around the town and took some pictures. But then we got our first job; we interviewed two local actors, and edited this interview. It was quite simple job, but it was nice to do it.

 

What else? Well, we have learned to NOT walk on a bicycle path! It’s has also been weird, how one pizza costs 1000… forint. It’s only 3,57 euros.
People here says that now is spring, but to me and Essi this wheater is more like Finnish midsummer. Now it’s something like 20 degrees warm, and earlier it was even hotter. We had one rainy day too, but like I said: Finnish midsummer.
